Ed & Tom’s Bar-B-Que: Open till sold out.

When I first saw Ed & Tom’s, I saw a sign that said, "Open from 11:30 - 4:30 or sold out."

”Well, it's 11:45. I better get in this place.” I thought—one of the best compulsive decisions I had ever made.

The restaurant is humble in structure, almost as if someone converted a small house into a restaurant. The interior of the place was decorated with hats from oil company workers. The owner, Mister Ed, actually was talking to one customer about getting the hat from atop his head. Hats are not the only decoration, as on the wall are writings from regulars or people who were passing through and wanted authentic Texan BBQ.

The drink menu is limited to only Kool-Aid sweet and unsweet tea and water; as far as the type of Kool-Aid, it "Doesn't matter what kind of Kool-Aid, it's Kool-Aid."

I ordered a three-meat plate of chicken, brisket, and pulled pork. Let me tell you. The meat was so tender you barely needed teeth to eat it, much less the knife they gave you. The chicken was ready to fall off the bone, the brisket was juicy, and the pulled pork was heavenly.

I was just about ready to leave after eating my meal, but then I was asked by Mister Ed if I wanted a peach cobbler. I took one second to think about it. My thought was interrupted by a "You scared of it?" To prove I was brave in the face of a peach cobbler, I ordered one with a scoop of ice cream. Let me tell you something that cobbler was scared of me when I was done with it.

I look forward to returning to Ed & Tom's again.
